The almond tree is deciduous and can reach heights of 3 to 4.5 meters (10 to 15 feet) [4][8]. Its trunk can reach a diameter of up to 30 centimeters (12 inches). At first, the young twigs are green, but when exposed to sunshine, they turn purplish. In their second year, they turn grey. The leaves have a 2.5 cm (1 in) petiole and a serrated border. They are 8–13 cm (3–5 in) long [9].
